2021年11月12日A few years ago, the film "Jalolsavam" was released in Kerala.
Jalolsavam is a Malayalam film, directed by T. V. Chandran and written by Arundhati Roy which was based on her novella of same name.
The movie is about love that transcends boundaries of religion, caste and language with an ensemble cast including the three most famous actors in India at that time - Mohanlal, Mammootty and Mohanakrishnan Menon with newcomers like Prithviraj Parthiban playing the lead role.
The film became a major commercial and critical success and was selected for screening at the 1999 International Film Festival of India in the mainstream section.The album contains 8 songs, all composed by Raveendran and Lyrics by O. N. V. Kurup, except for "Vaanchinathanam" which is written by Arundhati Roy herself. The songs were appreciated very much and it received an award for Best Music Album from Kerala State Government.
The song "Vachachinathanam" became quite popular because of its lyrics,and was later released as a single with an English translation track accompanying the audio track by a poet from Pakistan named Basharat Peerzada.
The lyrics of the songs "Kaithuveliyum Njan" and "Unniyar Paartha" were made into a short video clip and released as a single so as to reach to youth.
The film "Jalolsavam" was screened at the Indian Panorama section at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
The film was later selected for the mainstream section and the same year it won several awards such as Best Feature Film (Director: T. V. Chandran), Best Male Playback Singer (Mohanlal) and Best Female Playback Singer (Kalaranjini).
The film was also screened at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), at the Asian Film Festival of Thailand, at the Asian Cinema Festival of Australia, at the Asian Film Festival of New Delhi and many other festivals in Kerala, Malaysia and Singapore.
(Only) The songs were also released in a single-disc audio CD which had only 7 tracks. These were: It was released in 1999 and became a hit with great reviews across India and abroad. The album won many awards such as Best Music Album from Kerala State Government and Best Male Playback Singer (Mohanlal) from Star Choice Award. The film was later remade into a television series by the same name, produced by director Priyadarshan’s company August Cinema.
